さて、前回、「自分で決めてください」、「良い音にはバリエーションがある」とある意味、ばっさりと書きましたが、どのように感じられたでしょうか？それを言ってしまったら…。まぁ、そうだろうね…など様々なご意見があったと思います。
さて、ここから先は更に関心をお持ちの方のみどうぞ。
良い音って何だ⁉︎というお題は何十年も前から挙げられていました。そして何かしらの結論が出ているかと言えば、これといった見解はないでしょうね。議論にはなっても大体意見が出尽くしたところで、どれかに決めることもなく、自然に消滅したと思います。メディアや評論家の間でも明確に発信されていらっしゃるかは、私も知りません。
定義しようとしても仕切れませんので、おそらくはないでしょう。勿論言葉で何かしらを表すことは出来ます。ですが同じ体験をしても同じ感想、感動を得ることはないということです。
そして、それで良いと私は思っています。
議論して認識や考えが深まれば良いと思うのです。
少し違う観点でお話をします。
例えば友人に美味しいラーメン屋を紹介され、行ってみた。この場合、お、美味しいなぁ！というこたもあれば、それほどでもないなぁ、と、熱心に勧めてくれた方と同じ評価にならないこともあると思います。或いは少し味が濃すぎる、薄すぎる、などのコメントが付くこともあるでしょう。味噌ラーメンと醤油ラーメンと塩ラーメンがあったらどれを選ぶかなどもそうです。比較しても仕方のないことです。ただ、それぞれの品質は確かにありますので、それぞれの良い音にもそれぞれの品質差はあります。
オーディオの音の良し悪しもそういうものだと考えています。
とあるアンプビルダーが「このアンプはこのレコードを聞くためのものだ」と言って作っていたという逸話があります。私はその方の出している音を実際に聞いたことはありませんが、そのお話は分からないでもないのです。
かつての私のオーディオセットは、あるレコードをかけるととても気持ち良い音で鳴りました。それがシステムを変えた結果、格調高く、より正確にそれらしく鳴るようになりました、それはそれで正しいレベルアップだったのは紛れもない事実でした。ですが、前のあの音、あれはあれで良かったんだよなぁ、という感想はあり、しかし残念ながらその音は無くなってしまいました。こういう経験、ありますか？
ここ数年では、ジューンクリスティのレコードをDENONのDL-103とDL-103LC2で比べると、その声はDL-103LC2の方が気持ち良いのですが、正しい声はDL-103の方と感じました。もちろんこれは私の環境下での私の判断です。違う環境では違う結論になるかも知れません。
古いエラフィッツジェラルドのレコード、ロバートジョンソンのレコードを2台のプリアンプで比較したことがありました。ある機器ではエラもロバジョンも若くやや幼く聴こえるのです。もう一台は大人の声でした。さてどちらが正しいのか？結果は後者ということになりました。
しかし、どちらのアンプが出す音も、これまでの人生経験で聞いてきた何万人という人の声と比較して、全く違和感のない、どちらもあり得る声だったので、それだけ聞くとウーン？となってしまいました。ですから私のその時の最初の感想は、当時の本人の声を聞いたことがある人しか分からないなぁ、でした。(総合判断では後者が正しい声でしたが。)
ライブ盤をかけた時も、たまたま有り合わせの箱に取り付けたスピーカーから、音の悪い会場の雰囲気が出た、ということもありました。普通にレコードを聞くと明らかにミスマッチの箱でしたが笑。
このように、音楽ソースとオーディオセットの組み合わせと聞き手の3者の組み合わせにより時と場合によって変わってしまうことがあるのです。
これが⚪︎⚪︎向きのオーディオだね，などという感想が出る理由でもあると思います。
私はあまり狭義に、どれかご良いもの、他はそうでないもの、と決めてしまわないようにしています。
何事も余裕、幅を持ち、「ほどほど」であることが肝心だと考えています。

The topic of what is good sound has been raised for decades. And if you ask whether any conclusion has been reached, there is no particular view. Even if it is discussed, once most opinions have been exhausted, it naturally fades away without being decided. I don't know whether it has been clearly communicated among the media or critics.
It's probably not, because it's impossible to define it. Of course, you can express something in words. But even if you have the same experience, you will not get the same impression or emotion.
And I think that's fine.
I think it's good if we can discuss and deepen our understanding and thoughts.
I'll talk about it from a slightly different perspective.
For example, a friend introduces you to a delicious ramen restaurant, so you go there. In this case, you might think, "Wow, it's delicious!" Sometimes you may find that it's not so good, and you may not give it the same evaluation as the person who recommended it enthusiastically. Or you may have comments like the flavor is a little too strong or too weak. It's the same as choosing miso ramen, soy sauce ramen, or salt ramen. There's no point in comparing them. However, each has its own quality, so there are differences in the quality of each good sound.
I think that the quality of audio sound is the same.
There is an anecdote about an amp builder who said, "This amp is for listening to this record." I have never actually heard the sound he produced, but I can understand the story and his thoughts, feeling.
My old audio set produced a very pleasant sound when I played a certain record. After changing the system, it started to sound more elegant and accurate, and it was an undeniable fact that it was a correct level-up. However, there are times when I think, "That previous sound was good, but unfortunately that sound is gone." Have you ever had an experience like this?
In recent years, when comparing June Christy's records with DENON's DL-103 and DL-103LC2, her voice sounds lovely with the DL-103LC2, but I felt that the correct voice was with the DL-103. Of course, this is my judgment in my environment. In a different environment, the conclusion may be different.
I once compared old Ella Fitzgerald record and Robert Johnson record with two preamps. With one device, both Ella and Robert Johnson sounded young and a little childish. With the other device, their voices sounded mature. So which one was correct? The result was the latter.
However, the sound produced by both amplifiers was completely natural compared to the voices of tens of thousands of people I have heard in my life, and both were possible voices, so when I heard only that, I was left feeling a bit unsure. So my first impression at the time was that only people who had heard their voices at the time would understand. (Although the latter was the correct voice in my overall judgment.)
Even when I played a live album, the speakers I had installed in a box I had at hand sometimes gave off the atmosphere of a venue with poor sound quality. When listening to the record normally, it was clearly a mismatched box, lol.
In this way, the results can change depending on the time and situation, depending on the combination of the music source, the audio set, and the listener.
I think this is why people say things like, "This audio is suitable for ⚪︎⚪︎."
I try not to be too narrow in deciding that some things are good and others are not.
I believe that the key to everything is to have some leeway and flexibility, and to do things in moderation.
