日本では漆器は有名ですが、実際に使っている人はどれほどいるのでしょうか？

漆には日本産、中国産などあり、植物の性質上、土壌、気候、種類の違いなどのためか、産地の違いによる差があるようです。

当研究所のカートリッジの一部の製品には漆塗装をしています。

今回は漆塗装するメリットについてお話ししておきましょう。

まず見た目の分かりやすさで言えば、『見た目の美しさ』、『日本的』ということが挙げられます。

では音質上の効果は？という疑問も当然沸きます。

かつてジョンレノンのギターに漆塗装を施した物がありましたね。他にも時々登場しますが一般化はしていないようです。

因みに私は漆塗装のギターこ実物を見たこともなければ弾いたこともありません。ただ塗装により楽器の音が変わることは明らかだと思います。

さて、当研究所の漆塗りカートリッジと標準ボディのカートリッジを比べてどう違うかと言うと、大まかに言えば、『力強さ』、『芯の強さ』のようなものです。

理由は極めて簡単で、ボディ材の振動を抑制しているからと言えます。

これは付帯音を解消しているというよりは、レコードをトレースすることにより受ける振動によるカートリッジ本体のブレを抑えているということです。

ボディに使用しているコーリアン材は、硬いようでいて振動吸収能力がある程度には柔らかいという性質を持つ素材です。

それでもレコードからの振動に無縁ではいられません。物体はどんなものでも外部からの振動の影響を避けることは難しいのです。

みなさんはあまりお考えにならないかもしれませんが、レコードの溝をなぞっている針先はものすごいエネルギーを受け取っています。カートリッジという小さな世界で起きていることがどんなことか、察しの良い方は思いつくかもしれませんね。

漆塗りは、単なるボディの振動抑制という単純な話ではなく、カンチレバーやスタイラスを支えるボディ自体の安定化により力強い振動エネルギーをしっかり発電に結びつけるためのもの、ということになります。

そして最初に書いたような愛でる楽しみが付加されることも嬉しいですね。

Lacquerware is produced in Japan, China, etc., and there seem to be differences depending on the place of origin, due to the nature of the plant, differences in soil, climate, and species.

Some of our cartridges are lacquered.

Let me talk about the benefits of lacquer coating this time.

First of all, in terms of appearance, it is "beautiful to look at" and "Japanese".

But what about the effect on sound quality? Naturally, the question arises.

John Lennon once had a guitar that was lacquered. Others sometimes appear, but it does not seem to be common.

Incidentally, I have never seen or played a lacquered guitar in real life. However, I think it is clear that the sound of the instrument changes depending on the coating.

Now, the difference between our lacquered cartridges and standard body cartridges is roughly speaking something like "strength" and "core strength".

The reason is quite simple, it can be said that it suppresses the vibration of the body material.

This does not eliminate incidental noise, but rather reduces the shaking of the cartridge body caused by vibrations received from tracing the record.

The Corian material used for the body is a material that appears hard but has a certain degree of softness and vibration absorption ability.

Still, it cannot avoid the vibrations from the record. It is difficult for any object to avoid the effects of external vibrations.

You may not think about it much, but the stylus tip tracing the grooves of the record receives an enormous amount of energy. Those with a good sense of intuition may be able to imagine what is happening in the small world of a cartridge.

The lacquer coating is not simply a matter of suppressing the vibration of the body, but is intended to stabilize the body itself that supports the cantilever and stylus, thereby firmly linking the powerful vibration energy to power generation.

And it is also nice that it adds the fun of loving it, as I mentioned at the beginning.
