Which sounds better, analog or digital?

This debate began in the 1980s when CDs were released, and has continued to arise and disappear until today, when streaming is in vogue.

In terms of the difference in format, I think it can be said that analog "contains more information" than CDs.

I think high-resolution audio has become quite close to analog. If you increase the sampling frequency and the number of samples, it will become as close to analog as possible.

Even then, it will not become an analog waveform, so analog cannot be said to be superior.

Because analog also has its limits. It is up to what frequency it can record and what it can reproduce.

And we also need to keep in mind whether we can hear it in the first place.

When I say this, most enthusiasts tend to think only about how high a high-pitched sound they can hear. In reality, I think it is more important to know how quiet a sound you can hear = how much you can reproduce. Because I think that is essential for expressing the atmosphere and the characteristics of something.

There is also a debate about the superiority or inferiority of cartridges due to differences in the method. MM and MC are a typical example. There are various sects within each, and differences in materials are also a topic of discussion.

Ultimately, it depends on how the manufacturer or the user decides to finish the product overall.

My current opinion is that there is no such thing as an all-purpose product.

I think there are inevitably strengths and weaknesses.

In other words, it's my strengths and weaknesses, or likes and dislikes, based on my own values.

そんな議論はCDが出た1980年代から始まり、沸いては消えを繰り返し、ストリーミングの現代まで繰り返し議論されていますね。

フォーマットの違いから言えばCDよりはアナログの方が「多くの情報を持っている」とは言えると思います。

ハイレゾはかなりアナログに近づいたと思います。サンプリング周波数を上げて標本化回数を増やせばを限りなくアナログ相当になります。

それでもアナログ波形にはならないから…アナログが上、とはなりません。

何故ならアナログにも限度があります。何処までの周波数が記録されているか、そして再生できるか、です。

そして、そもそも私たちが聴き取れるのかということも念頭に入れる必要があります。

こう言うと殆どのマニアは高い音がどこまで聴き取れるかということにだけ思考が行きがち。実際はどれだけ小さな音が聴き取れるか＝再生出来るかの方が大切だと私は考えています。なぜならそれが空気感や、〜らしさなどの表現に必要不可欠だと思うからです。

方式の違いによる優劣論争はカートリッジにもありますね。MMとMCは代表的なお話し。それぞれにも分派がありますし素材の違いも議論になります。

結局のところ、メーカーにしてもユーザーにしても、総合的にどのように仕上げるか？次第だと思います。

万能な製品はないというのが私の今の意見です。

どうしても得手不得手があると思います。

換言すれば私の価値観から見ての得手不得手、或いは好き嫌いとも言えますね。
